Dennis’ STORY:

The only memories Dennis has of his parents are of them fighting. When Dennis was four years old, his mother divorced his father. He then lived with his mother for about two years until she abandoned him on the side of the road. Someone at a nearby market recognized Dennis and informed his father that he had been left there. Dennis’ father then took him to stay with him and Dennis’ grandmother. His father was a reckless man who had relationships with several women and rarely ever saw Dennis. At home, Dennis was verbally abused by his grandmother and was often forced to go days without eating.

One day, Dennis finally fled to the streets when his uncle beat him to the extent of tearing all of his clothes. Dennis was only seven when he entered street life and he quickly joined a rough crowd. For about a year and a half, Dennis endured life on the streets, stealing to eat, doing drugs, and most of all: deeply missing the love of a family.

In 2018, Dennis was identified as highly vulnerable and taken in to SGU alongside 4 other boys. Today Dennis lives at the Saving Grace Children’s Village with his new family. He attends primary school and is so grateful to know that he is safe and cared for forever.
