Emmanuel Opio

emmanuel’s STORY:

Emmanuel does not know who his father is. His mother was raped and gave birth to Emmanuel. He spent his entire young life living with his mother on the streets of Lira. Occasionally kind people would give them a little food, shelter and clothing. When Emmanuel was sick, he had to beg the owners of the clinic to give him medicine.  Emmanuel believed he did not deserve anything good in this world. The other children in the streets nicknamed Emmanuel “wota apoa” meaning “son of a mad woman". They bullied him, leaving him rejected, scared and lonely. His greatest wish was for a better home.

Saving Grace in Uganda staff discovered Emmanuel while he was living on the streets of Lira.  Not only did they immediately give him food and pray for him, but they were also able to give him the better home he desperately wanted.

Emmanuel is now living at the Saving Grace Children’s Village. “I felt so loved when the Saving Grace staff told me that God loves me and uses people like me to change the world.” Emmanuel is growing into a healthy and happy boy and he is a good student in his class in Saving Grace Primary School. We enjoy his kind heart and are excited about his future.
