isaacโ€™s STORY:

Isaac was born with HIV/AIDS and both of his parents died of HIV/AIDS before he was three years old. Around the age of three, he was adopted by his grandmother who tried to do what she could to make sure he got the medication he needed. Facing a great deal of rejection from the community he was living in, Isaacโ€™s grandmother thought it best if he moved into town with a caretaker instead of staying with her. His grandmother would go into town daily to sell vegetables and Isaac would collect scrap metal to trade in for a very small amount of money. He spent his days with other street children who were looking for any way to get food or money.

Our staff identified Isaac and counseled him before bringing him in to live permanently at the SGU village. These days Isaac gets the medication he needs and proper nutrition daily to make sure he stays as healthy as possible. Living with HIV/AIDS brings on a whole new set of health challenges, but Isaac has been a complete joy to have at the village. He is calm, disciplined, and an excellent student in school. He loves to play soccer and frequently challenges the other children to scoring competitions on the field. Isaac is one of the children who is always wearing a contagious smile and he is loved by all.
